From the Official Minutes of the Gonzales County Commissioners Court:

On November 15, 1963 the Commissioners Court of Gonzales County, Texas canvassed the returns of an election held on the 9th day of November 1963 "For the formation of Gonzales County Rural Fire Prevention District No. One", and the levy of a tax not to exceed Three Cents per One Hundred Dollars Valuation on all property within the District, subject to District Tax and after checking the returns of said election, said returns being posted in the Election Record of Gonzales County, Texas, in Volume 4 Page 96, and the Court found the following results:

  • Total of all Votes "For the Proposition to Establish Fire District" - 673 
  • "Against the Proposition to Establish Fire District" - 405.

And the Court being of the opinion that from the returns received by the Court that the Proposition "For the formation of Gonzales County Rural Fire Prevention District No. One, and the levy of a tax not to exceed Three Cents per One Hundred Dollar Valuation on all property within the District, subject to District Tax" Carried in all the Cities and throughout all the rural area of the County of Gonzales; It is therefore ordered by the Court that the Proposition above has carried throughout the entire County of Gonzales, Texas.  

On March 4, 2021 the Board Members voted to change the name of the District Pursuant to Chapter 775, Health & Safety Code to the Gonzales County Emergency Services District No. 2.
